A fresh start, a new reading list? Our Reader team tells us their reading resolutions for 2017.
“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.“T.S. Eliot Little Gidding
As we step into a fresh new year with blank pages before us, we’ve asked some of our team at The Reader if they’ll be keeping any reading resolutions in the year ahead. So here they are with next year’s words, making a new beginning of another year’s end:

Ian, Reader Leader
We agree! Reading a play can be just as enjoyable as watching it play out on stage and what better way than in a Shared Reading group where anyone who wants to read can take part! If you’d like to try reading something different or, if like Carl (below) you just want to spend more time reading – find out where your nearest Shared Reading group is and come along to join in!
“I would just love to spend more time reading!”
Carl, People & Project Manager, London
“To read more contemporary classics”
Sammy, Reader Leader & Volunteer Coordinator
“I am going to try and read more poetry”
Ben, Systems Administrator
You’ll always find plenty of poetry suggestions here on The Reader Blog – we have a fresh Featured Poem every week!

Maddie, Reader Leader
“To read more – especially books for adults (I read a lot of kids books!)”
Annie, Storybarn Coordinator
And what’s so wrong with reading children’s books? The likes of The Gruffalo and Matilda are just as good for big bookworms as little ones. If you’d like to inject a little variety into your reading habits check out our Recommended Reads – we have suggestions for all ages and tastes.
